Seeding the Dream…

I planted lots of seeds today. Bordeaux Spinach seeds, Neon LIght Chard seeds, Cosmic Purple Carrot seeds, Carnival Blend Carrot seeds, Multi-Color Beet seeds, Red & White Scallion seeds…

I plant my garden like I paint. Color is my drug. Delirium takes over and I lose control…gladly.

And the seeds become a glorious riot of life.

When I begin a new painting, it is exactly the same as planting the seeds (an obvious idea but true nonetheless). I see the end result in my head (sort of) and it feeds my brain & my soul. And the end result always has some random surprises to keep me guessing…

Most Seeds are so unremarkable, small & brownish—and then transform into something so glorious, it’s hard to wrap your mind around how this is possible!

I plant my art.

More Miller Moths!

More Miller Moths!

The 2012 Biblical Miller Moth Invasion!

So it seems New Mexico is being invaded on an epic biblical level by Miller Moths this year.

I have 12 lilac bushes lining my driveway and the swarm is absolutely massive! And somehow very magical…

I am always fascinated by these occasional eruptions by Mother Nature. It’s as if she is having to shout to get our attention—to make herself heard.

They way things are in the world these days, I expect we will be seeing more of these rants…

If you don’t become the ocean, you’ll be seasick every day.

Off with their heads!

So what was bugging the Red Queen so much? She had such a nasty temperament, it must have been unbearable to be in her head. So maybe she was trying to get some relief by cutting off other people’s heads…

Or maybe she just suffered a failure of imagination, and this was the only thing she could think of when someone crossed her?

Let’s try to think of new options…

OBLIVION

What makes us seek OBLIVION—the need to alter our consciousness, escape the current point of view? This urge is not limited to the human species. I wonder if it is an attempt to use those parts of our brain that sit idle most of the time. Like an amateur contortionist, we try to rearrange those unused parts into a shape we haven’t seen before…are we the Lotus Eaters?

Half-life

Is Time something we can’t live without? Just wondering…
